Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back to what we hope will be to an exciting school year! We hope that summer provided not only fun opportunities but some rest and relaxation as well!
We have many exciting things planned for the 2017 – 2018 school year. One of these initiatives that will be continued from previous school years is called Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (P B I S). P B I S is a process for creating safer and more effective schools by emphasizing positive behavior. This is achieved by all staff working together as a team to develop a set of specific expectations for different areas around the school: classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, the bathroom and the playground. We have developed a common saying, “Roosevelt Students Are Stars” both to help students remember what is expected of them during the school day, in addition to encouraging our students to take steps to be the best students they can be.
Here at Roosevelt we believe that every child can be successful both at school and in the community. By teachers and staff here at school using common language and expectations, coupled with your support at home, our students can maximize their potential and their level of success.
Attached are copies of the P B I S posters that are posted in the building to help remind students to always be “stars”. We encourage you to review these with your child and discuss what is appropriate behavior both here at school and outside in the community and neighborhoods.
As always, thank you for your support, we look forward to a happy, healthy and successful school year!
Sincerely,
Theodore Roosevelt’s P B I S team.
